The Strong Container Structure of Offshore Containers - BSL Containers

When compared to other containers, such as marine containers, offshore containers have the strongest structure of them all. When being used in such industries as the oil industry, it is very important that the structure does not falter at all. If it does, then there are some rather dire consequences that could result. For instance, oil could leak out of the containers and contaminate the environment. It is also dangerous for those working on the oil platform.

There are certain calculations involved in figuring the strength of an offshore container. Those calculations help establish the allowable stresses, the load distribution, and any impacts that the load may have on the container.

When calculating allowable stresses, the calculation is different for each type of material. For instance, steel is going to require a different calculation than aluminum because of the fact steel has a higher degree of strength compared to aluminum. When calculating lifting loads, it is important to ensure that the load does not exceed what the container can handle. The same goes for impact loads, which are loads that are carried for a short period of time. Horizontal and vertical impacts are calculated.

There are also minimum thickness requirements. There are special considerations made that may require the minimum thickness to be greater. It really depends on the container's use. And any welds on the container are full penetration welds to ensure for even more stability.

The structure is what makes an offshore container what it is. Because the structuring is created with such care, it is no wonder that they are ideal for use on oil platforms. The process is so incredibly amazing because of the many calculations that take place in order to ensure that everything is absolutely perfect. If those calculations are off, then the container may fail to acquire its certification. If that's the case, the container cannot go into any kind of service. So you know that when a container has its certification, that it is perfectly safe to put into operation. All calculations were done right, so it can handle the load in a very safe way.
