The Price of Offshore Containers versus Other Containers - BSL Containers

When you compare offshore containers to marine and other types of containers, you do notice a lot of differences. You may notice that they are a lot more durable, have a lot more regulations imposed upon them, and the certifications are quite stringent. Since these containers are used for offshore purposes only, it is important that they are very secure.

But it must be understood that offshore containers are more expensive than marine containers. Fortunately, it is easy to see why they are more expensive. Here are some of the reasons why:

  • They have to go through a strict certification process to ensure their durability. Durability and reliability does cost more money.

  • The materials that are used to establish that durability is more expensive than materials traditionally used in containers that may be used in an offshore environment.

  • The manufacturing process is quite lengthy to ensure that the minimum thickness required is achieved and that all regulations are met and certifications acquired. Even the processes used in the manufacturing process have to be approved before production can take place.

  • Offshore containers do last longer. Instead of having to be replaced, regular maintenance and repairs can keep a single offshore container in service for quite some time.

When you take into consideration that an offshore container has a longer life than other types of containers, the investment is quite a sound one. For instance, the replacement of a marine container would take place before the replacement of an offshore container. Because of this, the owner of the marine container would be spending more money because the investment would be made twice rather than once with an offshore container.

When looking at the length of life of an offshore container, it is easier to set aside the fact that an offshore container has a higher initial investment. It is actually a lesser investment in the long run. And when being used in the oil industry, offshore containers add a high degree of security to the load. This is something to consider when looking at making an investment in offshore containers.
