Offshore Containers and the Data Plate - BSL Containers

BSL offshore containers are basically a completely different world of containers. That is why BSL offshore containers are excellent for the oil industry. There are some very stringent processes that are involved in the production process and offshore containers also have to be marked with certain pieces of data. Sometimes, that data must be printed on a data plate. The containers are also fitted with an inspection plate.

The material that the plates are made out of is corrosion resistant and is attached to the outside of the offshore container in a very secure way. So secure, in fact, that unauthorized and accidental removal cannot happen. The plates are attached to an end door or in a prominent position so that they can be seen.

You will not find data plates on BSL offshore containers being fitted with aluminum rivets. The information is also in the English language, which a second language may be added if the owner needs it to be that way. The text must also be legible and no less than 4 mm in height. It may even be possible that the data plate and the inspection plate be the same plate.

If something happens that the data plate starts to become illegible, a replacement plate may be provided, but it has to be identical to the original plate. The inspection plate may also be replaced when there is no more room to record the inspections.

So what sort of information is included on a data plate? You'll find the name of the manufacturer, the date of manufacture, the manufacturer's serial number, the maximum gross mass at the design sling angle, tare mass, payload and intermediate deck payload, DNV 2.7-1 certificate number and DNV stamp, and design temperature.

The inspection plate will include the owner's container number, the owner's name, and the date of the last inspection.

The data plate and inspection plate contain information that is very important when keeping up with the maintenance of the offshore container. And if something happens that the offshore container needs to be specifically identified, it can be. You'll find that offshore containers are not only the best because of the way that they are made, but also in the way that they are recorded and maintained.
